A:Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a nationally recongnized building assessment system developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) that certities sustainable buildings. The LEED system awards points in six (6) categories and buildings receive certification on one of four (4) levels; Certified, Silver, Gold, Platinum. The system features a suite of rating systems applicable to various building types, some of which include New Construction (LEED-NC), Core and Shell (LEED-CS), Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI), and Schools.

A: At Ecostrategic Construction Solutions, we are able to provide services for projects registered under LEED for New construction and Major Renovations, Core and Shell, Commercial Interiors, Schools, and Retail..

A: LEED Consultants that are contracted to the owner or designer, are typically more involved with integrating the green requirments into building's design. During construction, they will often take on a role of oversight, with regard to the construction process, but do not directly assist the GC with meeting those requirements. ECS will work directly with General Contractors, as a subconsultant to help ensure that they are successful in meeting all applicable LEED requirements. We provide systems to allow for the necessary calculations, documentation, and tracking requirements that GCs are often held responsible for on LEED certified buildings.

A: The LEED Rating systems are continually evolving. LEED APs on a GCs staff may not always be able to keep up with the changes taking place within the rating system. In addition, tracking and documenting LEED construction related credits can sometimes be an arduous task that requires full time attention. At ECS we keep informed with the changes of the various LEED rating systems. We are also able to provide the attention to detail that implementing and tracking the LEED construction related credits requires.
On some projects, it is a requirement for GCs to hire a third party LEED Coordinator. ECS can take on this role, when this is a requirement.

A: Construction is a fast paced process filled with many pressures. Because of this, it may be difficult for a construction team to successfully address LEED requirements, and often times requires that a full time LEED AP be hired to address these requirements solely. By working with ECS, you can feel confident knowing that we are able to provide the level of dedication needed to make your project a success and to help you avoid costly hiring.
